With the summer now in full flow and the sun shining in the sky everyone seems to be showing off some skin (some people a little bit too much…) so it’s important to make sure that when you do decide to slip into a bathing suit, wear a pair of shorts or even a shorter skirt, it’s important to make sure your skin is smooth, supple and heathy.
It can be easy to forget that, although we spend all year waiting for the sun to arrive, the sun can cause your skin lots of damage through a harmful mix of UVA & UVB rays that can leave your skin dry, wrinkly and damaged but thankfully there are lots of sun protection and skin care products on the market to help you beat the summer blues letting you show off your fabulous summer skin instead of hiding in the shade.
To help you separate the skin care do’s from skin care don’t this summer, here at Semichem we’ve created our simple 3 step program that we feel everyone should follow this summer so you can safely get gorgeous skin and avoid turning heads for the wrong reasons this summer.
1) Always Keep Yourself and Your Skin Hydrated
So often over looked but a really simple and effective way to keep your skin safe and healthy, moisturisers and body lotions can help replace the essential nutrients and rebuild the skins natural defences so your skin stays sensationally soft and silky. There are lots of body lotions on the market for all skin types such as Nivea Rich Care Body Moisturiser for dry skin or Inecto Pure Coconut Oil Body Lotion for those who love the fresh smell of coconut but our top tip is use a moisturising lotion that contains a drop of fake tan so not only are do you get super soft, healthy skin but you also gradually build up a subtle tan that will help you look and feel healthy all year round.
Let’s face it, no-one relishes that moment when they 1st show off their legs for the summer and reveal legs so white they would make a Goth blush so it’s always nice to keep your skin a little off white.
Have a look at Garnier SummerBody Moisturising Lotion, Dove Summer Glow Body Lotion and Johnson’s Holiday Skin for some of the best moisturisers on the skin care market.
Although moisturisers can help keep your skin healthy, make sure you always have a bottle of water nearby to keep yourself hydrated so when you do apply moisturisers you’re only topping up the skins defences instead of completely rebuilding them. During the summer we seem determined to spend as much time as possible doing something and out in the sun so make sure you drink water before you feel thirsty so your avoid feeling dehydrated and always feel fresh.
2) Sun Cream Shouldn’t Be Saved For Trips Abroad
Why is it every time we go abroad we stock up on sun tan lotion and sun protection creams but don’t realise that in the UK the sun’s rays can be just as powerful? I’ve lost count of the amount of my friends have gone to a BBQ, without wearing any sun tan lotion, and woken up the next day redder than a Lobster. While for them the result was just sore, peeling skin for the next week the results can be a lot more serious…..
Make sure you always keep your skin protected throughout the whole summer by applying sun tan lotion every morning when the sun is shining and also keeping a bottle in the car so you don’t get caught short when the sun start beating down.
Riemann P20 is one of the most effective and user friendly sun tan lotions on the market thanks to it’s once a day application that is still 90% effective after swimming and can last for up to 10 hours. Check out our special sun tan lotion section for some fabulous deals to keep your skin safe this summer
Also remember to use after sun if you’ve been in the sun a lot during the day or if you feel you still feels warm even when you’re not in the sun.
3) It’s Not Just Your Skin That Can Get Sun Burn
Remember that even when your skin is covered up your hair is on show (unless you’re wearing a hat of course) so protect your hair from the sun with Fudge Hair Products. All Fudge styling products have a UVA and UVB protective filter to stop harmful rays from attacking your hair throughout the day as well as keeping your hair perfectly styled. Fudge Fuel is my personal favourite but the whole range is great.
Finally here’s a little tip i’ve used a lot over the years and although it sounds strange can help your skin out over the summer months, grow and Aloe Plant. Ok i know it’s not the most common bit of advice and may be of no use to you whats so ever but Aloe Plants are near impossible to kill and it you use the gel from within the leaves you can get instant relief from insect bites, mild sun burn and other skin irritations. Although you should still make sure you have after sun as the gel you get from the Aloe Plant isn’t a huge amount, it can be a simple way to make sure you always have some help near at hand.
